VOLKIN
The volkin is a species of wolf-like beastkin that derived from the volkari. They live on a warm continent named Volraia which they share with the feline race alikhats. These kin look humanoid in appearance while also displaying wolf-like traits. They bare visible fangs and stark predator eyes. Their noses are flat, wide, and darkened at the tip. They have a set of horns adorn atop of their head, a telling trait of the mild corruption of their kind. Like many of the beastkin, the volkin are able to shapeshift into their bestial forms, however, this ability would be kept under watch by the elkai who prevent them from fully exercising their soul affinity due to the fear of their capabilities. Volkin can be found in warm climates such as woodlands and forests but can survive in colder climates as well. They go by another moniker named vargs. The vargs were known to be vicious beasts of the land that preyed on their victims using their large size and savagery. The great fall of Malacath wiped out most of the apex creatures, leaving behind only the strong who survived and evolved into large, aggressive beasts . Once they were tamed by the kai, however, they lost most of their aggressive traits and became tamable.

These tamed versions of the vargs would help populate the land, creating the beastkin. Some of them were even tamed and bred with the volkari, leading to the race of volkin and though they were not as aggressive as the first pedigree of their kind, they were still considered dangerous. Regardless of this, they are a proud set of beastkin with their own morals and set of rules. Those that break the set rules are severely reprimanded. Much like a pack of wolves, the volkin tend to stick to their own kind and form tight-knit clans (or packs) that act as extended families. These clans are not easily formed as there are not many volkin in Ein, however, they form a strong, lasting bond between clans and rarely wage war with one another.
Every few weeks, the elders of each family call forth a gathering of the entirety of the clan and issue a running event called The Rut. It only serves as a means to sedate wild urges or roiling tendencies that burden the volkin. The clan will run for miles without a destination throughout the night and well into the morning. Before dusk arrives, they finish off with a feral series of howls, barks, and bays.
The coloration of a volkin can vary from pale pink to ebony black with other hues such as reds and blues. Volkins are also known for their markings which can range from stripes, patches, and spots. It is not uncommon to see a volkin without markings, however. Their markings are often accented with vibrant colors. The size of a volkin can range from average human height to above 7ft tall. When in their feral form, they are much larger in size, ranging from slightly above the average of a wolf to the size of a macintosh horse. Despite the volkin being a sparse race of akinine, there have been several breeds to surface in a short amount of time. There are three defining breeds of volkin.
